I like to step back in time. On this day I got to travel to the 1940s with two other women who love the past as much as I do.
I pulled this 1940s dress for our photoshoot because of it’s beautiful coral colour and unique shape with a folded accordion empire bodice, fitted waistline and sleeves. This dress is dreamy and romantic. It sways easily with a woman’s walk and the crepe fabric bends and swishes with the breeze. This beauty is from my personal collection and a cherished favorite. You can barely tell that it has faded with age and shows small wear holes throughout the skirt. These imperfections tell a story of a well loved dress that has travelled 70 odd years to shine again.
Inspiration: this 40s dress is the perfect choice for a shoot in country fields. The coral colour compliments grassy fields and dramatic landscapes. I see a 1940s country girl wearing this to a town dance at the local hall, meeting the boy she loves (perhaps before he goes off to war).
